Rating .............: 7.2/10
Genre ..............: Animation | Short | Family

Studio .............: Lupus Films / Snowdog Enterprises, for Channel 4
Language ...........: No dialogue | Songs in English
Year ...............: 2012

Runtime ............: 23 min 48 s
Source .............: 1920x1080 x264 master (mkvmerge, 2013)
Video ..............: 1920x1080 (16:9)
Codec ..............: H.265 (HEVC) Main 10 / 10-bit
Audio ..............: AC-3 (Dolby Digital, Stereo)

About this restoration:

The source is a 1920x1080 x264 encode muxed in 2013, already sitting
at full HD resolution. It was put through two AI passes and
re-encoded to lift the residual compression artifacts and softness
out of the source while keeping the original 16:9 frame and the
gentle, hand-drawn crayon look it shares with the original Snowman
film.

Pass 1 .............: Starlight Mini
Noise reduction and image restoration applied
to the 1080p x264 source, cleaning up
compression blocking and residual grain ahead
of detail restoration.

Pass 2 .............: Gaia 2 - Detail Restoration
AI-based detail restoration and sharpening at
the native 1920x1080 resolution, preserving
the original 16:9 frame without upscaling.

Pass 3 .............: H.265 Encoding (NVENC)
Encoded to H.265/HEVC (Main 10, 10-bit) with
hevc_nvenc at ~8018 kb/s average.
Color space: BT.709 (TV range)
Audio: source AC-3 640 kb/s stereo track
carried through untouched.

The result is a cleaner, steadier presentation of the film, with
restored fine detail and reduced compression artifacts - without
losing the hand-drawn warmth that ties it back to the original
Snowman.
